Bangladesh’s exports have scaled new heights for FY 2021-22, injecting fresh impetus into the economy as it shakes off a pandemic-driven slowdown.
Around $160.20 million worth of goods were shipped in March, propelling the overall export earnings to $1234.66 million in 2021-22, according to data published by the Export Promotion Bureau which is 15% more than strategic target and 32% compared to FY 20-21.
Leather Footwear (HS code 6403) sub-sector contributed to about $538.98 million that is 43.6% of total sector, 16% more than strategic target and 28% compared to same period of FY 20-21.
Other Footwear (HS code 6403) sub-sector contributed to about $338.86 million that is 27.4% of total sector, 13% more than strategic target and 36% compared to same period of FY 20-21.
Leather Product (HS code 42) sub-sector contributed to about $242 million that is 19.6% of total sector, 15% more than strategic target and 34% compared to same period of FY 20-21.
Leather (HS code 41) sub-sector contributed to about $115.82 million that is 9.3% of total sector, 18% more than strategic target and 39% compared to same period of FY 20-21.
